Lectric XP 4.0 Review 2026 – My Honest Experience After 300 Miles

I have spent my own money on this bike. This is not a sponsored review. I bought the Lectric XP 4.0 in February 2026 for $1,099, and I have now ridden it for more than 300 miles in 3 months. I have used it for daily commuting, grocery shopping, weekend rides, and even one long 45-mile ride.

In my last review, I compared the Lectric XP 3.0 and RadRunner 2. Many of you asked me, “Should I buy the XP 3.0 or wait for XP 4.0?” So I bought the XP 4.0 myself to give you an honest answer.

In this review, I will share my real personal experience, what I loved, what I hated, the full specs, a complete buying guide, and FAQs from my own riding.https://ebikeupdate.site/lectric-xp-3-vs-radrunner-2-review/

My Personal Experience: Why I Bought The XP 4.0

I already had the XP 3.0. It was a good bike, but it had 2 problems that annoyed me every day.

First, the brakes were mechanical. After 200 miles, they started making noise and I had to adjust them every week. Second, the display was small and hard to read in sunlight.

When Lectric announced the XP 4.0, they said they fixed both problems. They added hydraulic brakes, a bigger color display, and a torque sensor. I was curious. I sold my old XP 3.0 and ordered the XP 4.0.

When the box arrived, it was heavy. 72 lbs with battery. I unboxed it alone, and honestly, it was a struggle. It took me 55 minutes to assemble. The instructions were good, but you need a second person to lift it. I almost dropped it on my foot.

First ride: I will never forget it. The moment I started pedaling, I felt the difference. The XP 3.0 had a cadence sensor – you pedal, then after half a second motor kicks in like a push. The XP 4.0 has a torque sensor – you pedal a little, motor gives a little. You pedal hard, motor gives more. It feels like a natural bicycle, not like a scooter. That was the biggest upgrade for me.

My 300 Miles Experience: City, Hills, And Rain

City Commuting – 180 Miles

I use this bike for my daily commute, 12 miles round trip. In the city, this bike is perfect. It folds in 30 seconds, I take it inside my office, and no one complains. The top speed with pedal assist is 28 mph in Class 3 mode. I usually keep it in Class 2 mode at 20 mph for safety.

My personal average: In PAS 2, I get around 55 miles range. In PAS 5 with throttle, I get only 28-30 miles. So if you want long range, don’t use full throttle all the time. This was my mistake in the first week. I used throttle only and battery died in 25 miles.

Hills – 70 Miles

I live near a hilly area. My XP 3.0 used to struggle on steep hills. It would slow down to 8-9 mph. The XP 4.0 has a 750W motor with 85 Nm torque. On the same hill, it now goes 14-15 mph easily without me pedaling hard. That torque sensor really helps on hills.

Rain Ride – 1 Time, Never Again Without Fenders

One day it rained suddenly while I was 8 miles away from home. I had no fenders. My back was full of mud. The bike itself handled rain fine, display didn’t get damaged, brakes worked perfectly. But I learned: if you ride in rain, buy fenders. I bought them later for $59.

Long Ride – 45 Miles In One Day

I did a 45-mile weekend ride with a friend. We rode on a bike trail. My battery went from 100% to 12% in 45 miles. I was in PAS 2-3 most of the time. My friend’s bike died at 35 miles. The XP 4.0 won. But my seat was painful after 30 miles. The stock seat is not comfortable for long rides. I changed it to a wider comfort seat for $35, and now it’s much better.

What I Loved – Pros From My Personal Experience

  1. Hydraulic Brakes Are Game Changer: I used to be scared to go fast on XP 3.0 because brakes were weak. On XP 4.0, one finger braking stops the bike in seconds. In rain also, they work perfectly. This alone makes it worth upgrading.
  2. Torque Sensor Feels Natural: It doesn’t feel like a motorbike anymore. It feels like you have super legs. My legs don’t get tired, but I still get exercise.
  3. Color Display: I can see speed, battery, range, and PAS level even in bright sunlight. On XP 3.0, I couldn’t see anything in sunlight.
  4. Folding Is Easy: I fold it and put it in my car trunk in 1 minute. I take it to parks on weekends.
  5. Customer Service: My first charger stopped working after 2 weeks. I emailed Lectric, they sent a new charger in 4 days, free. No questions asked.

What I Hated – Cons, Honest

I will be honest, no bike is perfect.

  1. It’s Heavy: 72 lbs is heavy. If you live on 2nd floor without elevator, you will suffer. I carry it up 5 stairs to my apartment and my back hurts. Don’t buy this if you need to carry it up daily.
  2. Stock Seat Is Hard: After 20 miles, my backside hurts. You will need to buy a better seat. Lectric should give a better seat at this price.
  3. No Fenders In Box: For $1,099, they should include fenders. I had to buy separately.
  4. Battery Takes 5-6 Hours To Charge: If you forget to charge at night, you can’t ride in morning. I now charge every night.
  5. Assembly Is Hard Alone: If you are alone, ask a friend to help. The box is 80 lbs.

Complete Buying Guide: Should You Buy XP 4.0 in 2026?

Buy XP 4.0 If:

  • You want a folding e-bike for city + weekend
  • You want hydraulic brakes and torque sensor
  • Your budget is $1000 – $1300
  • You are 5’2″ to 6’3″ tall – This bike fits most people, I am 5’9″ and it fits perfect
  • You want a bike that can carry groceries + a child seat

Don’t Buy XP 4.0 If:

  • You live on 3rd floor without elevator – Too heavy
  • You want to ride only on mountain trails – Buy a proper e-MTB, this is not for hardcore off-road
  • You want 100 miles range – This gives max 60 miles, you need a bigger battery bike
  • You are under 5’0″ – The bike might feel big for you

XP 4.0 vs XP 3.0 – Which One To Buy?

I owned both. My honest opinion: If you have XP 3.0 and it works fine, don’t upgrade just for fun. But if your XP 3.0 brakes are bad or you want torque sensor, then upgrade. If you are buying new in 2026, buy XP 4.0 directly. Don’t buy XP 3.0 now, because XP 4.0 is only $100 more but much better.

Standard vs Long Range – My Advice:

I bought the Standard version. Long Range is $200 more and gives you extra 15-20 miles. If you commute more than 25 miles daily, buy Long Range. If you commute less than 15 miles, Standard is enough. I regret not buying Long Range because my 45-mile ride almost drained my battery.

Maintenance Tips From My 300 Miles

I learned these from my mistakes with XP 3.0:

  • Check tire pressure every week. Keep it at 25-30 PSI. Low pressure kills range. My range went from 50 miles to 38 miles just because tires were low.
  • Clean chain every 150 miles. I use a dry cloth + lube.
  • Don’t leave battery at 0% or 100% for days. Keep it at 50-80% if you are not riding.
  • Tighten folding hinge every month. Mine became loose after 200 miles and made a clicking sound.

FAQs – From My Personal Experience

Q1: Is Lectric XP 4.0 good for beginners?

Yes, 100%. This was my second bike but my cousin bought it as his first bike. He had never ridden an e-bike before. He learned in 10 minutes. Start in PAS 1, it’s very gentle. Don’t start in PAS 5, it will scare you.

Q2: How long does the battery really last?

From my personal test: In PAS 2, I get 50-55 miles. In PAS 5 + throttle, I get 28 miles. Company says 60 miles, but that’s in PAS 1 on flat road with a light rider. I am 185 lbs, so my range is a bit less. Be realistic.

Q3: Can I ride XP 4.0 in rain?

Yes, I rode in rain once. The bike is water-resistant, not waterproof. Don’t ride in heavy storm. After rain ride, dry it with a cloth. My display is still working fine after rain.

Q4: Is XP 4.0 legal everywhere?

In USA, yes, it’s Class 2 and Class 3. You can change it in settings. In EU/UK, it’s not legal because motor is 750W, EU limit is 250W. I have a friend in EU who wanted to buy it, I told him don’t, police will seize it. Always check your local law.

Q5: Can two people ride on XP 4.0?

Technically, payload is 330 lbs. I tried riding with my friend once, total weight was 320 lbs. Bike handled it, but brakes felt weak and seat was small. I don’t recommend it daily. Buy a passenger seat if you want to do it regularly.

Q6: Does it come with warranty?

Yes, 1 year warranty. My charger broke, they replaced it free in 4 days. Keep your order number and receipt.

Q7: Should I buy XP 4.0 or Aventon Sinch 2?

I tested both in a shop. Aventon is more comfortable and looks more premium, but it’s $1,499, $400 more. XP 4.0 is better value for money. If budget is tight, buy XP 4.0. If you want premium feel and have money, buy Aventon.

Final Verdict: My Honest Rating After 300 Miles

After 300 miles, I give the Lectric XP 4.0 9/10.

It is not perfect. It’s heavy and seat is hard. But for $1,099, you get hydraulic brakes, torque sensor, color display, folding design, and 60 miles range. No other bike in this price gives you all this in 2026.

If you are looking for your first e-bike or upgrading from XP 3.0, I personally recommend it. I still ride it daily, and I don’t regret buying it.
